A bit of info on myself:

I am a lover of the natural world, and have a deep interest in all creatures extinct and extant. I have a firm interest in evolution and evolutionary change, and seek whenever possible to broaden my knowledge. My interest in evolution all started with my interest in Dinosaurs at a young age (which continued into my adulthood, as shown by my gallery). I found these dramatically different creatures so interesting, and over time became infatuated with the process of how they (and we, and every other species) came about. After finding my interest in evolution i originally sought to study evolutionary biology at a higher education level, but after some deliberation i decided to broaden my knowledge at home, and have it as a kind of educational hobby.
I am, however, going to study Wildlife and Conservation biology, as in recent years i have become more and more involved with ecological conservation, and are even part of the Conservation Volunteers Australia, volunteering with them whenever time allows.

My gallery mostly consists of extinct fauna, though it does include extant fauna, speculative biology as well as some photography. Ive been trying to hone my skills over recent years, and even at a quick glance at my gallery in chronological order i would like to think i am doing that.

I hope you enjoy the work i produce. I am open to any criticism and tips, so if you see any errors or areas i can improve upon, feel free to let me know by comment or note :)
Outside of my gallery, you can find me engaging in conversion on other deviants comment sections, or on other websites (though the information of which is only given to close friends or members of those other groups). If you want to chat, talk, debate, question, feel free to send me a note!

Lightning Claw
Australia's largest bipedal carnivore - Lightning claw.
This megaraptorid machine would have prowled ancient Australian floodplains in search for carrion or fresh prey, taking it on with large recurved claws and long slender jaws.

(And yes, before you ask, those are exposed tooth tips. *Gasp* I know, i know. )

I will color this at a later date. Felt nice to draw a dinosaur again after so long, so expect more in the future (Maybe. Dont hold me to that)

Predatory Weta
The idea came to me in a dream, and was somewhat inspired by :iconpreradkor:'s "Mantigryllus"
A (speculative) large predatory Weta, with highly evolved raptorial fore-limbs for seizing and crushing prey. The femur of the middle leg also has spines, used to help hold and subdue larger prey. Because of the position of the limbs in relation to the head, prey is often stunned or crushed first, and then moved to the mouth where it is macerated.
The forelimb consists of an enlarged trochanter, spurred femur and spurred tibia, with reduced tarsus, much like a mandid.

The modified forelimbs would also be used for digging burrows, where the insect would reside during the day. Is body is knobbly and ridged, to mimic wood and stone.

Its official. I have art block. I haven't been able to take pencil to paper as of late, let alone produce anything worth posting here. With work, conservation volunteers and life in general, i guess i haven't had the time or energy to sit down and draw. I might do some stuff here and there, leave a comment or two, but dont expect much from me, okay? Okay. I'm glad we sorted this out. You can all go home now.
Freshly molted Extatosoma tiaratum male
My largest sub-adult male (Vesper) molted and finaly became an adult. This is his second molt while ive owned him. He sat like this for almost all day while he dried out his wings (which are now as long as his body). Adult males are capable of flight, while females stay flightless their entire lives.

Your I'd description is quite inspiring.  Because I feel the exact same way. I love paleontology, biology and nature in general.

i also get really into astronomy and speculative evolution from time to time.  I have this thing where someone months I'm really interested in something particular about science or nature, and then the next month I'll find something new to be fascinated by.    I'm basically interested in everything, but can only be really focused on a few this at once.
but I've always been interested in paleontology.

How long should I leave my leaf insects untouched after they molt?

Why exactly are Clemens and Oliver arguing?

i have seeing people who's art I like fighting over nonsense.
they both said rude things but they still don't apologise.

A) Because Clemens says stuff without thinking, and it well known for spamming people and not knowing what and when certain gestures and things are acceptable. Clemens has been involved in a few fiascos about certain things (take note of his "im sorry" journals) both on DA and on Facebook groups. Misscommunication leads to people taking sides, and ultimately people begin arguing.
And;
B) Oliver doesn't like to take shit. If he sees something he doesn't like, he will tell him/her. Sometimes he is a little rude and overbearing about it, but most of the time he is well spoken about it.

Ok. I don't want to get into these arguments. That's why I don't take sides.

I dont like getting into arguments either. While im initially biased as im friends with Oliver, ive looked at it from about all directions, and they have both said and done some pretty silly stuff, while other times they haven't. What both parties are guilty of is blowing things out of proportion. What should have been a fleeting disagreement turns into a huge argument with people taking sides, which is completely unnecessary. Doesn't help that Clemens stands by his belief of "free speech" which he thinks gives him the right to say whatever he likes and it be acceptable. But anyways. Hopefully its all laid to rest soon, and may it stay as such.
